Tak'alik Ab'aj

The ancient city ruins of Tak’alik Ab’aj in Guatemala represent a significant cultural heritage site where the Olmec and Maya civilizations intersect. Thriving from the 9th century BCE until around 900 CE—a span of more than 2,600 years—Tak’alik Ab’aj was also one of the places where the earliest Maya culture truly began to flourish. In recognition of its long history and cultural value, the site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023.

This exhibition presents the work of five artists who capture the mystery and sacredness of Tak’alik Ab’aj through photography, offering audiences a unique glimpse into its timeless legacy.

과테말라에 위치한 고대 도시 타칼릭 아바흐(Tak’alik Ab’aj) 유적은 올멕 문명과 마야 문명이 교차하는 중요한 문화유산입니다. 타칼릭 아바흐는 기원전 9세기부터 약 900년경까지 약 2,600여 년 동안 번성하며, 최초의 마야 문화가 본격적으로 피어난 장소 중 하나이기도 합니다. 최근 이 유적은 긴 역사와 문화적 가치가 높게 여겨져 2023년 유네스코 세계유산으로 등재되었습니다. 

이번 전시에서는 다섯명의 작가가 타칼릭 아바흐의 유적이 지닌 신비로움과 신성함을 사진으로 담아 관객에게 선보입니다.
